<div itemprop="description">Holmes, David Wendell - Passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 10, 2016, at the age of 69, at Elizabeth Bruy&egrave;re Hospital in Ottawa, Ontario. He will be missed by so many, including his children, Kurtis Holmes (Christina Robinson) and Lisa Holmes (St&eacute;phane Shank), and their mother and his lifelong companion, Maureen Holmes. Cherished and doting grandfather (Papa) to Addison Holmes, Bennett Shank, and Violet Shank. Beloved brother to Joanne Pratt (Ron) and Jack Holmes (Norma), children of the late Oliver and Pearl Holmes (McGovern). David will be missed by his nieces, nephews, former colleagues, neighbours, fellow mariners and many dear friends. The family would like to thank the Bruy&egrave;re medical team for caring for David during his final days, as well as the Palliative Care team at the Civic Hospital, and particularly Dr. Daniel Vincent, for helping David in a time of need. We are forever grateful. <br /> <br />David was truly a special man with the kindest soul, and he has touched so many lives in so many ways. He will live on forever in our many beautiful memories of him. <br /> <br />Memorial donations to the Bruy&egrave;re Foundation are appreciated.</div>
