<div itemprop="description">Walker, Doris, May (n&eacute;e Fisk) <br /> <br />January 8, 1922-January 21, 2016 <br /> <br />On Thursday, January 21, 2016 Doris ended her journey of life. She fought bravely and courageously in her final hours and she will be dearly missed by her family and all those she touched along the way. <br /> <br />Doris began her life January 8, 1922 in St. Catharines, Ontario as the second daughter of Albert and Bertha Fisk, British immigrants who settled in Canada at the turn of the century. She then moved to Toronto, Ontario where she studied and contributed to the war effort making Bren guns during WWII. She worked post-war for RCA Victor later marrying (Albert) Douglas Walker in Toronto in June 1948. Doris and Doug became a military family traveling across Canada living in Trenton, Edmonton and Toronto with a final posting in Ottawa, Ontario in 1963. <br /> <br />Doris is survived by her three children David, Leslie and Donna (Paul Johnson), two grandsons Matthew (Andy) and Kyle (Tanya) of Toronto and sisters Patricia Lawson of Campbellford, Ontario and Mabel McAuley of Scarboro, Ontario. Doris will also be missed by her dear friends Neil Kirkpatrick of Edmonton and Barney and Judy Nevins of Ottawa. The Gloucester Seniors Centre and friends at Windsor Park Manor will miss her at the cribbage card table and bingo evenings. <br /> <br />Special thanks are extended to the Palliative Care Team at the General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital, the Palliative Care Team at the Hospice at Maycourt as well as the care team at The Glebe Centre-Long Term Care Residence. <br /> <br />A spring memorial service will be held at Capital Memorial Gardens where Doris will finally come to rest with her beloved husband Doug. <br /> <br />In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Doris can be made to the Ottawa Carleton Association for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (Forest Gate Residence). <br /></div>
