James Bernard "Bernie" Black
May 16, 1925 - July 22, 2014
89, of Ottawa (Stittsville). Died July 22, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was a well respected teacher, coach, and Principal with the Ottawa Board of Education for 34 years. He will be remembered by the many students whom he taught, coached, and mentored. Bernie was a WWII veteran, who served with the Royal Fleet Air Arm overseas, from 1944 to 1945. Bernie is survived by his wife Sheila (MacLean) of 60 years. His four children and their families: Mark and his wife, Ingrid (Vieira) of Ottawa; Hilary and her husband, Brian Kelley, of Boston; Chris and his wife, Crista (Lysionok) of Stittsville; Ian and his wife, Denise (LeBlanc) of Ottawa, and sister- in-law, Virginia Maclean. "Grandpa" was adored by his seven grandchildren: Keith, Allyson, and Ross Black, Ian and Morgan Kelley, Maclean and Naomi Black.
