Karen Elizabeth Rivington
June 16, 1949 - October 17, 2015
RIVINGTON, Karen Elizabeth
(née McClave)
June 16th, 1949 – October 17th, 2015
Karen Rivington, much loved wife of Dr. Robert Rivington.
Proud mother of Katherine (Andrew Edwards) and Andrea (Dr. Matthew Weir).
Adoring grandmother of Vanessa, Bradley and Anna Weir.
Predeceased by her parents Stuart and Kathleen McClave.
Survived by her brother Martin (Wenda)
and Bob’s siblings, Diana, Louise (Brian Brownlee) and David,
her niece, nephews and her extended family.
Karen had a rich and fulfilling life. She enjoyed her teaching career
and had a gift of explaining concepts using logic and reason.
She valued her many close friendships and
cared deeply for her friends and family.
She was often a shoulder to support others.
A breast cancer diagnosis over 25 years ago, changed the course of Karen’s life.
Despite her illness, she was able to see her children grow and thrive.
She enjoyed times with friends, family and travelled whenever the opportunity was present.
She was able to rise to the occasion,
leaving many wondering how she could achieve what she did.
She faced her treatment with determination that was inspirational.
She was guided skillfully through this very long and often difficult disease
by dedicated health care providers.
She would especially wish to acknowledge
Dr. Vincent Young for his many years of efforts, caring and advice.
Dr. Richard Mimeault for his skill and support,
and in recent weeks by
Dr. Louise Coulombe for her devoted care.
Karen appreciated the professionalism and care
provided by so many nurses.
To each of them, the family sends their sincere gratitude.
Family and friends may pay their respects at
Capital Funeral Home & Cemetery
3700 Prince of Wales Dr.
