Passed away peacefully at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, January 27, 2017 at the age of 72. Lorne leaves behind his loving wife of 28 years, Sonja (nee van Noort). He is survived by his sister Pat Guenette (Ron). Predeceased by his parents, Blake and Pearl McPhail, sister Geraldine and brother Gerry (late Faith). Lorne will be fondly remembered by his mother-in-law Ruth van Noort, his extended family, nieces and nephews as well as by his many friends. Lorne and Sonja shared a love of travel. Europe and South America were favourite destinations. Lorne loved the game of golf and was a 36 year member of the Rivermead Golf Club. He was a kind and generous man and was always there for anyone who needed a hand. He loved to laugh and to make others laugh. No one enjoyed telling a joke more than Lorne McPhail.
