It is with sadness that we announce that Norma KERFOOT (nee McRae), aged 84, passed away peacefully the evening of March 10, 2015, in hospital, surrounded by family. Beloved wife of Stanley Kerfoot, loving mother of Doug (Michele, Pauline d.) of Phoenix AZ, Brenda (Steve Chapman) and Lori (Ross Brown). Devoted grandmother of Patricia, Paul, Alexander, Andrew, Zachary (Doug), Krista (Brenda), Sarah, Lainey (Lori). Sister to Audrey (Bill Hunter d.), Jim (Claudette) and Bill (Mariette). She is predeceased by her mother Muriel (Simpson) and father Norman McRae, brother Wendell (Clare Shanks), sisters Myrtle and Elizabeth (Glynn Reid) and daughter-in-law Pauline (Bruneau). Born in Ottawa in 1931, Norma spent her early years in Ottawa, Ashton and Carleton Place. She was a spirited and spontaneous soul who enjoyed travelling, cross country skiing, riding her bike, and canoeing with Stan at Lac Bernard. She loved to try new things and had a particular passion for reading, crosswords and collecting memorabilia. She was also a very talented seamstress. She and Stan were long-time members of the Foresters community and enjoyed attending local theatre productions. She followed her grandchildren’s activities closely and volunteered time to fundraise for local charities. Stan, her devoted companion for more than 65 years, was at her side to the very end.

The family would like to thank the staff at Longfields Manor for their support and services over the years following her stroke. Thanks also to the staff at the Queensway Carleton Hospital for the professional and sensitive care given during her final days. A Memorial Visitation will take place at Capital Funeral Home, 3700 Prince of Wales Drive, Ottawa on Sunday, March 22, at 2 pm, followed by a Service and Reception at 4:30 pm.
