<div itemprop="description">PEACE, Dr. Robert William &ldquo;Bob&rdquo;<br />July 16, 1948-February 8, 2016<br /><br />Peacefully, surrounded by family after courageously fighting aggressive brain cancer. <br /><br />Beloved husband of Diane McClymont Peace. Cherished father of Christopher (Laura), Lesley, Heather (Eric), grandfather of William and Katherine. Loving son of the late Lt. Col. William and Margaret Peace. Son-in-law to the late Bruce and Marian McClymont. Brother to Shirley (Jim), Don (Elaine), Marilyn (Dan), and Debbie (Peter). Brother-in-law to Catherine. Nephew to Norma. Cousin to Trudi. Uncle to Shane, Lynne (Mike), Troy (Zannab), Matthew (Tara), Jaclyn (Jamin), Tara (Aloysio), Jannetta, Corey (Ashley), Sarah, Jeremy, Danika, Sabia, Parker, Cohen, Neve, Abbas, Haneefah, Adam, and Rowan.<br /><br /><br />Robert completed his undergraduate degrees at Carleton and his MSc and PhD at McGill. He enjoyed a distinguished 35-year career as a Nutrition Biologist with the Nutrition Research Division of Health Canada. Robert believed in service to his community. After earning a Queen&rsquo;s Scout Award, he served as a dedicated leader for over 30 years with Scouts Canada. He worked tirelessly with the National Capital Visually Impaired Sporting Association leading dragon boating, skiing, biking, and camping activities. He assisted many seniors in the area through the ROSSS program. One of his last endeavours was to compete with the Ottawa Dragon Masters dragon boat team, who qualified for the upcoming Worlds in Australia. He was an avid outdoorsman, organizing and running camping and canoe trips for many, where he showcased his culinary genius (creating the world&rsquo;s best hot chili). He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, son, and friend. He will be sorely missed by his wife, family, Poets and their wives, Scouters, seniors, and many others. Special thanks to the staff of CCAC, Maycourt, the Civic, General and St. Vincent Hospitals as well as to Drs. Lauder, Tsai, Malone, Gertler, and Livingstone. <br /><br />Family and friends may pay their respects at Capital Funeral Home &amp; Cemetery 3700 Prince of Wales Dr. 613-692-1211 on Sunday, February 14th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and again on Monday (15th) after 9:30 am. The funeral service will be celebrated in the chapel on Monday at 11 am, followed by interment.<br />Those wishing to make donations in memory of Robert can do so to Scouts Canada. <br /></div>
