It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the death of our beloved sister, Merrill Gleddie, and of our dearest brother-in- law, Dave Rogers.

Merrill was born in Claresholm, AB and was the eldest child of Clair and Violet Gleddie. She attended schools in France, Regina, Moose Jaw, and Germany and graduated from Brookfield High School in Ottawa. After graduating from the University of Ottawa with a degree in linguistics, she began work for the Federal Government. She retired in2012, after a rewarding 35 year career of public service.

Dave Rogers was born in Ottawa in 1947 to Stewart and Irene Rogers. He also graduated from Brookfield High School, and later attended Carleton University where he graduated with degrees in both political science and journalism. He then began to work at Maclean Hunter in Toronto prior to returning to Ottawa to start a 37 year journalistic career with the Ottawa Citizen - a job he loved.

Merrill and Dave married in 1982 and shared many interests and passions including cycling, travel, skiing, and gardening. In 1994 they adopted their son, Cameron Rogers, who was the center of their lives. Merrill and Dave enjoyed a wonderful 34 year marriage full of love and joy.

The time Merrill and Dave spent with us was much too short but we will always cherish our memories and hold them close to our hearts. They are survived by Merrill’s brothers and their spouses: Steve (Margaret Kenny), Graham (Normand Séguin), and Gordon (Deborah Gallant); their niece and nephew, Hannah and Patrick Gleddie; and Merrill’s step-mother, Nancy Bushell.

We would especially like to thank the Ottawa Police Service and their associates for their professionalism, kindness and support at this difficult time.

If desired, memorial donations to the Ottawa Food Bank would be appreciated by the family.
