HOWARD, Gordon Keith

August 20, 1926 - July 6, 2016

We are sad to announce the passing of our Dear Ole Dad, Gordon Keith Howard in Ottawa, formerly of Windsor and Maidstone, proud member of Bell Canada Pioneers and long-time member of the Windsor Hobos Family Camping Club. Predeceased by his loving wife Betty (Elizabeth Money) (2008) and parents B. Keith Howard and Elizabeth Margaret Howard (Reeks). He leaves behind his children; Kathy, Barbara, Jim, Leslie and their families. He was Grampa or Grampa Gordy to his grandchildren Bethany, Brant, Colin, Kyla and Lucas, Great Grampa to Lyla. He will be missed by his sister Margaret Brombal, nephew David and niece Karen, special friend to Nancy Howard (Gillespie) and Grampa Ernie Gillespie.

The family would like to express their extreme gratitude to the warm and wonderful staff who took such great care of Dad at the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre, Rideau 1 North as well as the many caring people from Home Instead, Mayada, Margaret, Maria, Gaynell, special caregivers Chantal and Lynda, Yvonne who performed miracles during his physio and especially Heather who has been with Dad since the beginning of this 4 year journey. These are very special and precious people who deserve to be valued more. Day in and day out they would assist Dad in those personal tasks which we take for granted and they would do it with great patience and caring and often humour. Each one forged a special bond with Dad and improved his quality of life during the most difficult of times. We are so grateful for each one of you and so many more.

Dad was a giver and in lieu of flowers, if you don’t have a favorite charity of your own, we suggest the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre - Foundation, Parkinson’s Society of Ottawa or the Humane Society.
