<div itemprop="description">William (Bill) Charles JOHNSTON passed away peacefully on October 7th, 2016 at the age of 90 after a short unexpected illness. <br> <br>Bill served in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II as a signal man, and then for an additional two years in the Royal Canadian Navy Reserve. He continued his involvement with the Navy as the Commanding Officer of the Lachine Sea Cadets. <br> <br>He worked for 35 years with Combustion Engineering in sales, engineering, purchasing, and operations analysis. <br> <br>He was actively involved in the Western Lachine Recreation Club, enjoyed bowling, tennis, golfing and was an avid stamp and coin collector. <br> <br>Bill and Mary loved spending their summers with their family in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. <br> <br>Bill was the loving husband of Mary Johnston for 67 wonderful years. He was the older brother of Edward Johnston. He was the proud father of Betty (Mike) Avvampato, Brian (Margaret) Johnston, Jim (Roberta Smeathers) Johnston and Alan (Barb) Johnston. He cherished his grandchildren Paul (Heather) Avvampato, David (Teresa) Avvampato, Patrick (Nicola) Johnston, Mark (Shauna Trueman) Johnston, Christine (Matt) LeClaire, Lisa (Chi) Siu and Scott (Melissa Gonçalves) Johnston, as well as his great grandchildren Sam and Nick Avvampato , Michaela and Vince Avvampato , Samantha and Dominic Johnston, Noah, Ava and Isabelle Johnston, Corbin, Teagan and Kalin LeClaire, Ashley , Peyton and Hayley Siu. <br> <br>He will be dearly missed. <br> <br>In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bill's name to a charity of your choice. <br> <br></div>
