THOMPSON, John B

With heavy hearts, and profound sadness, we announce the sudden passing of John on October 16, 2016, at the young age of 68. He rests easy in the hands of the Lord and is currently having a reunion in Heaven with family and friends he has not seen in a long time. We will miss his deep belly laugh and his big, strong, yet soft and gentle hands, heart and hugs. Family was the center of John’s life. He is the cherished, loving husband and best friend to Therese for 48 years. Adored Daddy to Yvonne (Paul), Tania (Paul), Tracy (Jared). Devoted GrandDad to Alexandra, Jack, Victoria and Jayden. Dear brother of Annie Maureen, Brian, Allan, James, Mary Jane, Robert, CarolAnn and predeceased by William, Winston, Eric, Elizabeth and parents George A. and Doris Thompson. Uncle Johnny will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews, as well as extended relatives and friends. Being a humble man, a private family service will take place as per John’s wishes. Raising a glass of red wine, playing a round of golf and sharing a laugh in his memory would be quite appropriate. John was an extremely generous man, so in lieu of flowers please do an unexpected act of kindness for someone. If desired, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke foundation will be appreciated. Sadly for all of us here Oh Johnny Boy, the pipes are calling. Until we meet again, and as John always said, ‘May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back.’ xo
