ANDREW, David
August 13 1930 - October 24 2016
Peacefully on October 24, 2016 at Valley Stream Manor, Dave joined his beloved wife Erma. Much loved father of Michael (Kathy), Jim, & Ellen Sloan (Andy). Cherished Grandfather of Kristie, Christine (Andrew), Steven (Stephanie), Karley (Neil), Chloe (Sean), Dylan (Allie), Hailey & Cameron. Proud Great-Grandfather to Ryan, Olivia, Violet, Emily & Keegan. He will be greatly missed by brothers Ross (Shirley) & Keith (Ann) as well as many nieces and nephews. Dave was an author of a book of poetry, "The Lure of Lanark" and composed many pieces of music. Dave and Erma were also active members of Bells Corners United Church for many years. Dave had a passion for music and enjoyed playing the cello and piano. After a distinguished teaching career, he retired from the University of Ottawa in 1985. In retirement, Dave enjoyed teaching piano, and spending more time at the cottage on the Clyde River. Dave and Erma were the first couple to move into Valley Stream Manor Retirement Home in 2009. Dave's family would like to express our appreciation to Valley Stream Manor, Community Care Access Center (CCAC), Carefor Health & Community Services, and Elisabeth Bruyere Hospital (RPCT) for all of your dedication and expertise. It is because of your excellent care and support that Dave lived his later years with dignity.
If desired, memorial donations to the Bells Corners United Church, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
