John (Jack) Edwin Gauthier
March 25, 1930 - February 23, 2017
GAUTHIER; JOHN EDWIN “JACK”
(Retired RCAF Major and active manager and member of Ottawa Police Services Pipe Band)
Passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on February 23, 2017 at the age of 86. He is the beloved husband of 60 years to Ellie. Loving and devoted father to Peter (Erin), Michael (Crystal), and Joey (Tiffany). He will always be remembered for being a fantastic Grandpa to Erica, Sarah and Koren. Dear brother to Nelson and Harold and the late Jean, Vivian, Raymond and Art. He will be remembered by his numerous nieces and nephews. Jack served in the RCAF from 1948 – 1977, retiring as a Major. He continued with DND until retiring in 1994. Jack began his love of the bag pipes at the age of 16 with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders. In 1950 he joined the RCAF Station Rockcliffe Pipes and Drums, retiring in 2008 as the longest serving member. His other love was the Ottawa Police Services Pipes and Drums, serving as a piper and manager for 35 years. Family and Friends are invited to visit at

On Sunday, March 5 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. Maurice’s Roman Catholic Church 4 Perry St, Nepean, on Monday, March 6 at 11 am followed by a reception and time to share your memories and stories. Contributions in Jack’s memory may be directed to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre.
