<div itemprop="description">With deep sorrow, the family of Thomas Brown announces his passing, peacefully at age 40 on May 16, 2017, surrounded by loving family and loyal friends.<br><br>A devoted husband to Michèle and dearest dad to Abigail, Tom will be missed by his father Graham and mother Pamela, sisters Johanne (Kirk Albert) and Leslie (Mark Hanna) and his entire extended family.<br><br>Tom lived a big life; he was kind and fiercely loyal, a patriot and a soldier, an adventurous soul whose travels and talents took him around the world.<br><br>Tom had “golden ears” and a supreme gift for music, earning nationwide acclaim as Pipe Major Sgt. with the Canadian Armed Forces Band, touring the world and performing to thousands as a bagpiper in Gaelic Storm, as tour manager for Kathleen Edwards, and as a sound engineer for countless others in studio and on stage.<br><br>Family came first to Tom, and he considered his friends to be family. He brought people together with his ideas, his energy and his irresistible spirit. Every day was a celebration.<br><br>Tom’s family wishes to thank the many nurses and doctors at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus ICU for the kindness and compassion they provided to Tom during his final days.<br><br>In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ottawa Hospital Cancer Program.</div>
